About the Author
Sharath Komarraju is a Bangalorebased author. He began life as a software engineer but has since jumped the fence to write full time. His first novel, Murder in Amaravati, was longlisted for the Commonwealth Book Prize in 2013. Perhaps his best known work is the Hastinapur series, which attempts to tell the story of the Mahabharata through the thoughts and lives of the epic s lesser known female characters. About the Author
Karen Wilken Braun is an associate professor for the Weatherhead School of Management
at Case Western Reserve University. Professor Braun was on the faculty of the
J.M. Tull School of Accounting at the University of Georgia before her appointment at
Case Western. She has received several student-nominated Outstanding Teacher of the
Year awards at both business schools.

Professor Braun has been a Certified Public Accountant since 1985 and holds membership
in the American Accounting Association (AAA), the Institute of Management
Accountants, and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. She also holds
the Chartered Global Management Accountant designation, and is a member of the
AAA’s Management Accounting Section as well as the Teaching, Learning and Curriculum
Section. Her research and teaching interests revolve around lean operations,
sustainability, corporate responsibility, and accounting education. Dr. Braun’s work has
been published in Contemporary Accounting Research, Issues in Accounting Education,
and Journal of Accounting Education.

Dr. Braun received her Ph.D. from the University of Connecticut, where she was an
AICPA Doctoral Fellow, a Deloitte & Touche Doctoral Fellow, and an AAA Doctoral
Consortium Fellow. She received her B.A., summa cum laude, from Luther College,
where she was a member of Phi Beta Kappa. Dr. Braun gained public accounting experience
while working at Arthur Andersen & Co. and accumulated additional business
and management accounting experience as a corporate controller.


Wendy M. Tietz is an associate professor for the Department of Accounting in the
College of Business Administration at Kent State University, where she has taught since
2000. Prior to Kent State University, she was on the faculty at the University of Akron.
She teaches in a variety of formats, including large sections, small sections, and webbased
sections. She has received numerous college and university teaching awards while
at Kent State University. Most recently she was named the Beta Gamma Sigma Professor
of the Year for the College of Business Administration at Kent State University.
Dr. Tietz is a Certified Public Accountant, a Certified Management Accountant,
and a Chartered Global Management Accountant. She is a member of the American Accounting
Association (AAA), the Institute of Management Accountants and the American
Institute of Certified Public Accountants. She has published in Issues in Accounting
Education, Accounting Education: An International Journal, and Journal of Accounting
& Public Policy. She regularly presents at AAA regional and national meetings. She
also leads a short-term Study Abroad trip for accounting majors to Paris and London
each year.

Dr. Tietz received her Ph.D. from Kent State University. She received both her
M.B.A. and B.S.A. from the University of Akron. She worked in industry for several
years, both as a controller for a financial institution and as the operations manager and
controller for a recycled plastics manufacturer.

Dr. Tietz and her husband, Russ, have two grown sons. In her spare time, she enjoys
bike riding, walking, and reading. She is also very interested in using technology
in education.

Please note that I'm reviewing the print version of this text- I see there may be some formatting issues with the Kindle version, which I can't speak to.I'm a native English speaker, but I have a French degree and have studied Italian and Latin (and, informally, Romance/Indo-European linguistics and conlangs as a nerdy teenager). I now need/want to learn Spanish, but it's been such a slog finding a book in English for learning any Romance language if you already know how Romance languages generally function. For me, many of the current books and courses are just paced too slowly, and I find them hard to stick to as a result.This book really hits the spot- we really needed a comparative grammar like this. There's nearly 800 pages of material, with chapters divided into nouns, pronouns, verbs, time/date, detailing how each of the four Romance languages operate. The information is well-organized, neatly tabulated, with separate subheadings for topics that require a little more language-specific discussion. There's bits and pieces of cultural information and even a chapter on interjections with a couple of comparative vulgarities included- a nice little bonus in this well-written and comprehensive book.Mr. Petrunin dedicated his book "to all language lovers like me." Great, no really great - all 784 pages! All of a sudden I have the enthusiasm needed to sink my teeth into a real challenge. I'm the polar opposite of a polyglot, but it is a well constructed bit of pedagogy and something I can handle. Thank you!!

This is a great book and a must-have for all those interested in the four Romance languages - Spanish, Portuguese, Italian and French. It's very useful, well-organized and well-written. I highly recommend it.

In Jan Beatty’s fourth collection, The Switching/Yard, she takes us through the ravaged landscape of the American West. In unflinching lines of burning lyric and relentless narrative, she forges the constructed body into movement. What lives in our collective unconscious as the Golden West becomes almost surreal, as these poems snap that vision in half with extended description of ghost explorers.

There is no stable landscape here except the horizontal action of moving through. Landscape becomes story. In this extended tale of the idea of family, we find stand-ins for the father in the form of a hit man, Jim Morrison, and ultimately the unyielding road takes the place of the body. The Switching/Yard is at once the horizontal world of the birth table where babies are switched, the complex yard of the body where gender routinely shifts and switches, and the actual switching yard of the trains that run the inevitable tracks of this book.

About the Author

Jan Beatty is the author of three previous poetry collections: Red Sugar, Boneshaker, and Mad River, winner of the Agnes Lynch Starrett Poetry Prize. She is the recipient of the Creative Achievement Award in Literature from the Heinz Foundation, the Pablo Neruda Prize for Poetry, two fellowships from the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, and inclusion in The Best American Poetry 2013, among other honors. Beatty is cohost and producer of Prosody, a weekly radio program featuring the work of national writers. She is the director of the creative writing program at Carlow University.
